Shhh......

They're sleeping!

Today was my first day at home with both the boys and no extra people for support.  It went fairly well but it was definitely a challenge.  I felt like Zach got the short end of the stick several times when he wanted me to follow him, play ball with him, or help him find something and I really couldn't because I was feeding Gunnar.  Hopefully juggling gets a little easier.  The biggest accomplishment was getting them both to sleep at the same time for a nap today.  Yippee!!!  Nap time was when I orignally downloaded photos and started this post however then I fell asleep myself.  Ha!

Anyway, here are few photos of the boys from the past few days.

Batter Up!

Ok, we may have a baseball player on our hands!  Recently Zach has really been keen on singing Take Me Out to the Ballgame but today he proved that baseball might be his thing.  Gunnar was kind enough to give Zach a present, or some might say a peace offering, when he came home from the hospital.  Good Boy gave Zach a bat and tee.  Today Zach asked his daddy to actually pitch the balls to him rather than hitting it off the tee.  Thinking this could cause some tears of frustration from our little 2 year old, Rich prefaced the activity by warning Zach that this was a hard task.  We all cheered and laughed when he hit the first ball that came his way!  I captured a couple of his attempts on film after I realized that documenting this might be a good idea.

And here is a snapshot I took before nap time today.  I love my boys!

"Good Boy" has arrived!!

Over the last several months we have been anticipating the arrival of a new baby into our family and over that timeframe Zach has consistently referred to the baby as "Good Boy".  Well, this morning Good Boy decided to make his entrance and as Zach had predicted with the naming he is in fact a baby boy.

Rich and I have been horrible at picking out name options for our new person and we had pretty much decided that this one was a girl.  That being said....we didn't have a boy name picked out until today.  "Good Boy" has been such a big part of our daily conversations that we only thought is appropriate to keep the initials GB.  So.....

At 4am this morning we welcomed Gunnar Benjamin La Vigne into our family.  Gunnar was in a hurry to get into this world.  He woke me up at 1:45am and made his entrance just a little over 2 hours later.  I'm just happy we made it to the hospital in time.  Eek!  Anyway, he is 7lbs, 14oz and 20" long.  We already adore him and can't wait to have Zach meet him!  Zach is going to be so excited!

Here is our first mom and son photo.  I'll be sure to post more soon!  Happy Mother's day to me!

Rolls Reversed

Zach loves books which we think is great.  Recently he has begun reading to us from time to time.  We realize that he is developing his memory and has a great ability to memorize the words of a book but we are still impressed and love he will "read" to us.

One of his favorites (and ours) is the Roadwork book.  We highly recommend it if you have a little guy.

I wasn't quick enough to catch Zach reading the first few pages to Rich but I got him reading a majority of the book when he decided that we would read and put Daddy down for a nap on the couch.  Ha!  I hope you enjoy this as much as we do!

April Showers Bring May Flowers

I keep saying I'm going to update the blog and then I forget or just get too tired.  Blah.  Where did April go?  Oh well.....we had a really wet, rainy April anyway so not too many photos.  May is here and we finally have some sunshine.  According to Zach, when the sun is up its time to play!

Here is a quick recap of the past few weeks.  Zach and I flew back to Chicago after a week in the southeast at the beginning of April.  He gets his own seat now!

Taking a bath or "bubbles" as we refer to it isn't always the top priority on Zach's mind so once we get him to agree we have to make things fun.  I think his hair might need to be cut!

We were invited to a birthday party at an ice rink.  Z didn't have any interest in skating or even getting on the ice until all the other kids were preoccupied with snacks.  Once the ice cleared he was brave enough to walk on the ice with his Daddy.

As I mentioned......April showers.......

A little quality reading time with Grandma.  She looks great in that hat Zach had her wearing!

Thanks Lynn & Rich for the cool sign for Zach's room!  It is proudly displayed on his wall now and enjoys pointing it out and letting us know what it says.

Now that the weather is nice blowing bubbles has become a regular evening activity.

And finally some May flowers in our front yard!
