New Schedule

Last week I went back to work.  Boo!  Not only did I go back to work but I started a new job.   Zach is now spending the day with Rich's mom who is nice enough to help us out until we get Zach into a daycare. And my mom is nice enough to come up and help as well!

Anyway, now that I have to go to an office I don't always have time to come home between coaching and work.  Needless to say....my side of the bed has been taken over!

Also, I now have a work ID.  It is definitely the most HORRIBLE photo I've had taken in recent years.  No, you won't be lucky enough to see that photo but I received this photo while at work.  Zach's picture is still better than mine.

3 Months!

Well the weekend has been busy so we are a day late in our 3 month post but better late than never.  Zach is officially 3 months old!   He has finally begun to smile regularly, laugh from time to time, and kick his legs and lift his head and shoulders while playing.  And of course, he is getting big.......he's a little over 15 lbs at this point!

Rawr!

Zach and I ran a few errands today in the midst of a winter snow shower.  We don't really have a coat for Zach yet so I put him in his full bear suit.  With some of the smiles he was giving me and long nap he took once he was all snuggled in,  I think he liked his outfit as much as I did.

Sleepy Days

Rich and I have been running around quite a bit trying to get things done in the last few days before I start my new job so Zach has really been transported here, there, and everywhere.   Luckily Zach is a pretty good sleeper so he is often found asleep in his car seat or stroller.

I'm off to start my new job tomorrow so wish me luck!

First Flight

Zach made his first round trip flight last week to go visit family in NC!  It was exciting and unnerving all at the same time considering I've never flown with an infant.  Zach handled the travel like a champ!  He slept the entire way on the flight there and most of the way on the flight home (he even slept 7 hours straight through the night the first night there however he has not repeated that miraculous event yet).  And I'm incredibly thankful that we have a stroller that only takes one hand to fold.  It made going through the airport much easier than I had expected.  Here are a few photos from our adventure.

Zach flew under an alias.  Thanks for the spelling error United!

Zach is all snug in his stroller waiting for our flight at O'hare.
Luckily this is how he spent the majority of both flights.

Zach had the excitement of a fun activity mat, bath time in the kitchen sink, and the luxury of sleeping in a "drawer" while at Nana and Grandpa's house.

And of course....Zach was excited to have all the attention.  I think everyone was excited to spend some time with him.

All Business

Just a quick post.   Zach and I recently visited my family in the southeast so as many of you know Zach has a bit of a mullet hairstyle right now.  Of course he is business in the front and party in the back.  Today.....he was all business and ready for the office (a laid back office of course).  Maybe he was trying to help me get ready for my new job.

Photos from our trip to NC coming soon!

All Smiles

Zach is getting to be much more interactive lately and we can already tell he is going to be a little flirt.  Typically whenever we whip out the camera Zach becomes quite serious however Rich caught a few of his smiles with the camera today.  He is a sly little guy!

Ready for the Crew Team!

One of my rowers was clever enough to give Zach the onesie he is wearing and I just couldn't resist placing a couple of key pieces of equipment in the photo with him.  At the rate he is growing, Zach won't be a good weight for a coxswain for long (I mean look at that belly) but right now he is the perfect size for the cox seat in the boat and as you can see he is quite serious about his training.  He's ready the spring regatta season!!

Snowmageddon!

Typically Chicago winters are cold and snowy so people don't really panic when a snow storm hits.  Oddly enough this "blizzard" had the news programs up in arms and they couldn't talk about anything else.  Well, we definitely got dumped on.  Evanston recorded 20.5" of accumulation however some of the drifts were well over 4 feet and waves at the lakefront were measured at 15' - 18'.  Crazy!  Needless to say the entire Chicago area got a snow day today!

It all started last night when our house became a full size snow globe (view out our kitchen window).
View of our street....

I was frustrated that I had to cancel practice for the girls I coach however I was looking forward to sleeping in, watching movies, and drinking hot cocoa with my two guys.  Sleeping in happened but sadly reality sunk in and Rich and I realized we had to shovel (and we both shoveled) our driveway and walkways in order to be productive tomorrow.  Owning a home means hours of shoveling.  Ugh.  Here are a few views of what we experienced today.

We managed to take a break from the work and get a little play time in with Zach though.  Today Zach experienced snow for the first time.  He didn't just sit inside and look out the windows like before.  Today he suited up and came out to experience the snow up close and personal.  It was so much fun!  Zach seems to have his eyes closed in these photos but he definitely wasn't sleeping.  I think he was just being stubborn.

We hope you are enjoying winter as much as we are!  Spring and summer are just around the corner, right?
